I’m Alyx, the face behind Sheer Portraiture.
Things you need to know:

I’m incredibly passionate about many things. One of them, as I’m sure you can guess, is photography. Others that are not as obvious (unless you’re my neighbor): Nebraska Football (go Huskers!), German, and the amount of pillows on “my side” of the bed (I have to have 4 – no more, no less).

I am the type of person who gets way too involved in books. There are days where I have to cut myself off and remember that I live in the real world – you know, the one where bills need to be paid and work needs to be done.

I can find the beauty in any environment. I have lived and traveled all over the world. I can tell you that Germany has the most beautiful forests, Kansas has the most amazing sunsets, and the rolling green hills of Scotland are simply gorgeous. I am blessed enough to live in an especially diverse area – we have the ocean,  we have fields, we have mountains, we have forests – it is a dreamland, and one of the most beautiful places I have ever had the opportunity to live. I do not take that for granted.

I don’t like chocolate, but bring me a bag of skittles and we’ll be best friends. I have two kids and a husband that I love more than anything in the world. I frequently get asked if I played basketball or volleyball. It could be because of my super athletic physique… or it could be the fact that I’m ridiculously tall. Yeah, it’s probably because I’m tall.

I love to laugh, I love to sing, I love to eat, I love my family, and I love my job. That last one? THAT’S what you really need to know, because when I love something, I give it my all.

Though I am based in the San Francisco Bay Area, I love to travel and am willing to travel for YOU. I will travel anywhere within the contiguous US for weddings with no travel fees*, and I love to travel for regular portrait sessions, as well.

I am a member of Professional Photographers of America.
